Hey there! I’m Trace Muller, the person behind Trace Digital Photography.

I live with my family in the Somerset region, west of Brisbane, and I’ve spent my whole life surrounded by horses and dogs, Arabian horses especially. Foaling down mares, handling stallions, weaning young horses, starting them under saddle. I’ve bred and shown for a good portion of my life too. Before the camera, horses were already my world.

Even though I’m an introvert, I can talk about horses all day. I’m the person who’ll learn the name of every dog at a session, and probably their middle name too. I’m not chasing a pose or waiting for the “perfect” moment, I’m watching how your animal moves and reacts, and working with that. If your dog needs five minutes to sniff everything first, or your horse needs a slow walk around the paddock before settling, that’s part of the session, not a delay.

My work’s been published in the Australian Arabian Horse News, Australian Arabian Studs and Stallions, The Arabian Magazine (UK), Horse Deals Australia, the Gatton Star, the Toowoomba Chronicle, and Hoofprints in History. I love to travel and when I go abroad, I make it a point to visit equestrian farms, facilities and competitions. It doesn’t matter where you go, the people who love their animals are all cut from the same cloth.

Whatever your animals mean to you, I get it. I’d love to hear about it.
